Welcome to the stable, the Pipedream ALICE adventure/gravel bike, photographed in Umbria before being kitted out for the April/May 2017 tour across Greece.

The ALICE frame is made of oversized CroMo steel tubing and has a custom fork with “adventure” cage and rack mounts.

She has a SRAM Rival 1×11 setup, with a 42t granny ring and the original 36t chainring pictured here replaced with a 32t Race Face model to help get the loaded bike up Greek mountains.

Funn’s extra wide handlebars make for a roomy cockpit with ample space for accessories while maintaining options for riding positions.

    • Hi Dirk. The bike is great on gravel and, depending on your tyre choice, pretty good on tarmac. Because it’s neither a pure road bike nor a mountain bike there is obviously a compromise in performance on long road stretches and tougher off-road conditions, respectively, but it’s a good all round choice for mixed surface touring where a mountain bike would be slow on-road and a road bike would struggle on dirt. It’s a steel frame, which is a matter of personal choice – obviously heavier than aluminium or carbon but tougher and more forgiving, with the comfort benefits of steel. Hope this helps.

  1. Hi
    thx.
That’s the bike I need to do a trip off-road in combination with tarmac.
Looking forward to see the bike and to ride with the bike.

Thank you very much for your comment
    Greetings
    Dirk
